16 March 2011 at Hotel La Pace in Segni a gourmet dinner to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the declaration of the first national Parliament.

 

Last 16 March the Hotel La Pace di Segni joyously celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, it was a cultural appointment that brought together the pleasures of eating and friendship promoted together with the much appreciated collaboration of the Casale del Giglio vineyard In fact, numerous guests and representatives from local institutions were happy to receive the invitation to a patriotic gourmet dinner and kept the rooms of our restaurant cheerfully crowded until late into the evening.

The appointment began at the piano of the new hall of the hotel with the moving aria from Va Pensiero and Mameli Hymn played by a quartet of excellent singers and musicians from the Teatro dell'Opera from Rome. Then a long and enjoyable cocktail, while Paola Lorenzi and Attilio Bedini brought to mind literary curiosities and scholarly citations, inviting guests to think about the wine as well as taste it. The wine of Plato's symposium that which is capable of animating conversation and when used wisely can join love and desire at a distance that allows it to be talked about.

The dinner, which was full of sophisticated tastes and patriotic colours was proceeded by a presentation of the prestigious wines from the Casale del Giglio cellar, performed by its patron Antonio Santarelli with a curious reading dedicated to the most famous vines in Italy tracing the length of the Route of the Expedition of the Thousand, the most famous episode of the Italian renaissance.

Then finally everyone was at the table to taste the lovingly prepared dishes and to play some more...at guessing over 150 wines (from Italy).

At the end of the evening, while the most beautiful arias from the Italian opera tradition took up again and joyously penetrate the rooms, to the accompaniment of an emotionally charged toast proposed to three guests who won a great prize (extracted at random from those who had correctly answered the wine quiz). Everything to drink, everything Italian.
