Treasures from our Land

Our hotel is in Segni where chestnuts dominate the landscape.

The chestnut and the chestnut tree have a strong link with the local area and its people
; we have chosen both of them as the symbol our history and of our house. The spiky shell of the chestnut protects the special fruit, the chestnut, which has always been used in these places, evoking nourishment, warmth and celebration.

In the autumn we dedicate shared dining moments to this nut, while specialty dishes like chestnut gnocchetti with porcini and sausage, chestnut soup, stuffed guinea fowl, jam made from marroni a larger variety of chestnuts, mont-blanc chestnut dessert all cheer our table.

But the"marrone segnino", the excellent local chestnut variety, is not the only treasure of the local area that we can offer to our guests.

Delicacies from Segni and the surrounding area include the prized truffles from the Lepine mountains. Indeed, here amongst the
woods and glades of holm oak, hornbeam and oak trees, or growing around the olive trees, wild roses and other plants, thrive fragrant and tasty truffle tubers. The most common varieties are the prized black (Tuber melanosporum), the hamate, the summer "scorzone" truffle ideal for embellishing homemade tagliatelle, but also for many second course meat dishes.

Our hotel has a long tradition on the subject of truffles: in the Sixties the first expert Umbrian truffle hunters stayed here and from here sent out large quantities of the precious tubers for the national markets.

And then there are also the local products such as the Sezze and Priverno artichoke, local hams and those from nearby Bassiano, the mountain vegetables, sheep and goats and pigs raised in the high pastures, the abundant game and buffalo from the plains, the fresh daily cheeses, products made according to the traditional traditional Lepine pastoral techniques, the porcini mushrooms, the aromatic herbs and the field vegetables.

At our table, you can always draw on a rich selection of the best national wines, carefully chosen for you. But our family has also sought to offer its small contribution to the growth and enhancement of the best wines of the area: in the last few years we have become partners with the Pileum di Piglio (Frosinone) company which cultivates hectars of the traditional vineyards of the area (the Cesanese and the Passerina) and turns the best grapes into wine. Therefore, we have produced a multi award winning Docg, the Pileum Bolla di Urabano (12 month barrel aged red), as well as the Pileum Cesanese (red) and the Pileum Passerina del Frusinate (white).
