Palazzo Doria Pamphili and its adjoining Collegiata dell’Assunta Church are the only landmarks that can still be found in the town centre, that was mostly destroyed by the Second World War bombings. The town was then rebuilt not taking into account its original historical features. During the war the local population took refuge in the palace and a lot them remained there until the 1970s.
